Summer fishing is upon us. We are smack dab in the heat of it and I’m not just talking weather. The fishing on lake Winnipesaukee is really heating up good. We have a very nice thermo cline set up at about forty feet which has in the early AM the plankton, bait and fish all stacked in the 30’-40’ (with 55 degree water at around 40) of water range. We have been catching some quality Salmon with two 24 inch four plus pound beauties boated aboard the Cool Water.

Some tips are hit the water early as the first light bite has been the most productive with the evenings not nearly as good yet. We are catching fish on all the goodies. Small flies tied sparse seems to be catching the better quality Salmon and Rainbow’s. Try running these out six colors on your lead lines and hang on! We have had some good action later in the day on spoons such as the BB Gun’s, Guide Special’s and Chappy’s. Pay attention to detail use a good 6-8# Seaguar Fluro leader, run small spoons and flies in the thirty foot range and you should put some fish in the boat.

Remember now is the time we start to catch the small “Shaker” Salmon so use those rubber nets be as careful as you can getting these fish back it’s our responsibility. Let keep the right fish and cull the lake in the right direction when you catch a nice fat three or four year old put that fish back keep the skinny and hook wounded fish and lets all work together to grow some six and seven pound Salmon!!!

See You on the Water
